Vintage Thanksgiving Postcards

In the season when people naturally become nostalgic and sentimental, vintage Thanksgiving postcards surely would help keep the feelings reminiscent of the past. You know that some items get more valuable as they age because they become rare finds. Vintage Thanksgiving postcards are such because they have a sweet and quaint quality to them.

Finding and buying vintage postcards used to entail patience and luck. Occasionally you might come across them in antique shops or if you collect ephemera in general, you would naturally find them at ephemera shows. But now Ebay makes collecting vintage postcards -- for Thanksgiving and other holidays -- much easier.

While both vintage Halloween and Christmas postcards have become particularly pricey, vintage Thanksgiving decorations are not in the same demand as the other two holidays and so you may find the postcards a bit easier on the pocketbook.

Be on the look out for postcards by Ellen Clapsaddle. She was a popular artist and designer in the early 20th century. She is also one of the most prolific postcard artists before World War I and many of her cards feature patriotic themes. She created postcards for all of the holidays, including Thanksgiving.
